Modern Band Method – Ukulele, Book 1

Winner of the 2021 “Best Tools for Schools” award for best method!

Would you like to offer a music program for students interested in creating music outside of traditional ensemble options? Do you need reliable and engaging music lessons for kids eager to learn an instrument? Music Will and Hal Leonard's Modern Band Method Series is the answer! Educators now have the opportunity to teach students instruments in an ensemble setting or individually.

Revolutionizing How Kids Are Learning Music

Music Will (formerly Little Kids Rock) is the largest nonprofit music program in the US public school system. They provide music education to over a million students who might not have otherwise had access in their schools. Students of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels find the modern band approach appealing and fun. Writers from Music Will teamed up with publisher Hal Leonard to create the Modern Band Method Series; complete with guided lesson plans, audio tracks, video instruction, and popular songs.

Ukulele, Book 1

This edition includes a guided lesson plan full of uke fundamentals: tuning, reading music and tablature, chords and strum patterns, single notes and scales, basic soloing, fingerstyle, muted strums, writing lyrics, and more. Audio tracks use PLAYBACK+, a multi-functional audio player that allows players to slow down audio without changing pitch, set loop points, change keys, and pan left or right. This keyboard method works in tandem with the other instrument method books so students can play songs like “Back in Black” and “Umbrella” together as a full band!

The modern band method is a fresh approach to music education that engages educators and inspires students.
