A Grand Affair is written in the timeless style of the classical tradition and is rich in melodic content and appealing rhythmic figures. Scored at a level 2, it is well-suited for developing orchestras. Parts are placed in the lower and more comfortable positions, allowing directors to focus on blend, intonation, and rhythmic accuracy. All sections are awarded interesting melodic material to perform as well as integral supportive parts. Moving parts are largely scale-based, placing them well within the capabilities of developing players.
