Butterfly

Hilda Conkling was a remarkable poet whose entire body of work was created between the ages of four and twelve. This exquisite setting eases students into part singing using canon, while teaching independence of melodic line against a more robust and dissonant piano accompaniment. The music evokes the fluttering of butterfly wings, creating choral art for 2-part voices.
