Vortex
This evocative piece features piano in an engaging alternation of quiet stasis and whirling energy. Vortex creates an aural landscape of opposites: a tornado gaining power like a whirling dervish while a dream-like stillness forms at its center. As the source of momentum that gradually pulls the ensemble into the vortex, the piano part requires a good sense of time and vitality. (10:40)
