Denn Wer Weiss, Was Dem Menschen Nutz Ist Im Leben

The motet Denn wer weiss, was dem Menschen nutz ist im Leben op. 18/2 by the composer Johanna Senfter is published here for the first time. After an introduction characterised by expressive chromaticism, simpler choral elements form the harmonic and thematic centre of the work. The four-part male choir plays a greater role in this motet. This work also concludes with an extensive fugue. The organ plays a variety of roles in this composition, from pure accompaniment to a dialogue partner for the choir.
